Crop / reframe the source recording in the editor

The problem When I record a browser window, the browser chrome (tabs, URL bar, bookmarks, extensions) ends up inside the frame. Once the recording exists, there is no way to remove it. None of the current options solve it: Trim is temporal — it cuts time, not framing. Content masks cover the area with a glassy blur. That leaves a visible blurred patch across the top of the video, which looks worse than the browser bar itself. Area mode only helps if you remember before recording. If the take is already done — and takes with voiceover are expensive to redo — it's lost. Cropping the exported file externally doesn't work either, because the export already includes the background, padding and rounded corners. Cropping it cuts the frame itself and the result ends up off-center. The request A crop control on the source video layer in the editor: drag handles on the recording, plus numeric inputs for top / right / bottom / left, and free or preset aspect ratio. Key part: it should be non-destructive and applied before compositing, so the cropped region becomes the video layer and background, padding, rounded corners, inset and shadow re-apply around the new edges. The result should look exactly like it would if I had recorded that area from the start. Nice to have: Adjustable at any time, not a one-way operation. Independent of export aspect ratio (crop the source, then choose 16:9 / 9:16 / 1:1 for output). Auto zoom and cursor tracking should operate inside the cropped region. A "hide browser chrome" preset that crops a sensible amount off the top. Why this should be simple to build The renderer already places the source inside a background frame and already reads a moving sub-rectangle of the source texture — that's what zoom and pan do. Crop is the same operation with a static rectangle: one (x, y, w, h) on the source layer, applied before the existing composite step. No new render path, no re-encoding of the original file, no change to the export pipeline. Zoom is the hard version of this and it already ships. Why it's valuable Saves re-recording, which is by far the most expensive part of making these videos. Rescues footage that is otherwise unusable — one forgotten Area selection currently means starting over. Privacy: removes tabs with client names, bookmarks and extension icons cleanly, without a blur patch drawing attention to the fact that something was hidden. Makes vertical and social exports viable, since you can crop to the content instead of letterboxing a wide desktop capture. Complements the existing content mask feature rather than overlapping it: masks for things in the middle of the frame, crop for everything at the edges.

Change native Zoom

Hey dear Motionik team! For my workflow, the cursor zoom 2x is way too big. Now I have to click into every cursor zoom singular and change the zoom for every click. That's very uncomfortable. I would like to have a setting where I can change the global zoom on the cursor, or delete every zoom, change every zoom, s a native function. A batch change for selected cursor Zooms would also be very helpful.

Error once stop recording or pause recording is clicked

I’ve had this software for a few days and it let me record just fine. However, a couple of days ago I tried ending a recording and received this error here, and it has not let me save any recordings ever since. I have paid for the lifetime version and have also reported this in the telegram support group as soon as I faced this error, but have had no response from the team so I thought of posting here. I chose Motionik over a competitor for some urgent recordings I have to complete because I was impressed with the features it had. I’m disappointed with the lack of response or acknowledgement after waiting a few business days. I understand that bugs or errors like this take time to fix, but as a paying customer I’d appreciate the support or team at least acknowledging the error and assuring me that it would be fixed. I am now considering going to the competitor and leaving a bad review if there’s no resolution or acknowledgement on this. Feature Request: Separate Screenshot and Screen Recording Options

I would like to suggest separating the screenshot and screen recording functions into distinct options on the Mac menu bar. This would allow users to quickly capture a full-screen screenshot without navigating through additional steps. Additionally, it would be highly beneficial to integrate OCR (Optical Character Recognition) into the screenshot feature, enabling users to extract text directly from captured images.

Have you created a software in life for the first time

Haven’t you seen any software before, what is this watermark, how should I even use this video, spent so much time in creating, I read there will be a watermark, have used tons of software/ web apps, who does this, and I agree with this approach, I am myself a builder. But this is so so bad, and frustrating, at this point, what is the purpose of creating video, when its motive is just watermark, you don’t know a subtle place to add this… Such a bad experience, I installed Motionik, as an early user when launched on product hunt, till then I have kept it till today, to use it, tried few times, but never went till export option.. but today, when finally I was on last moment of time… this showed up… Never going to use this now, I could’ve thought of purchasing the subscription, by using it, was looking good, should’ve bought it later on, but showing this kinda Watermark, directly on export - cannot expect anything better. Thank you for showing me, products like this exists in market…
